I am writing this hoping ther will be enough interest. I have found out ther are 6 Hunter 23's on Indian Lake in Ohio. I had tried 6 years ago to get a 23 regatta togather but ther was not enough interest or enough boats in one place. Now ther are 6 at one place and my old 23 is real close and could be taken ther for a weekend. We could have the First ever of any Hunters a National Regatta ( We can Call it what ever we want) I am writing this kind of premature hoping the guys on Indian Lake will pick it up and run with it. It could be a fun and exciting weekend with maybe 10 to 15 23's at the same place for all the 23 guys and gals to see each others Ideas, boats and share all ther ideas and set ups. E-Mail me and let me know what you think at cliffr@bright.net Cliff Ruckstuhl (419)423-1969

I am interested

I have never raced or been in a regatta, but I would be interested in going to see the other boats and talk with the other owners. It's about a 10 hour haul for us to pull from Iowa to Indian Lake, but we have taken it that far several times. If something materializes, we would be interested in participating if timing works out. Thanks for the idea Cliff Ward

Count me in!

We just brought our H23 to Indian Lake last Sunday and haven't sailed it yet. This would give me a great chance to meet others and learn about my "new toy." I'll do what I can to help out. Jon Rockhold Artemis

Road Trip

This getting a better responce than I thought it would. I can set this whole thing up and take care of all BUT it would have to be at Grand Lake so it would be a road trip for the Indian lake guys, only about 25 miles. At the St. Marys Boat Club ther is a ramp and everthing needed to have such a event. They have Regatta every Holiday weekend and it could be done at the same time as any one of the Regatta's but we would have a seperate start. At the Boat club ther is a course already in place for the clubs regular weekend racing and the club has nice facilties for such an event like Big Club house and plenty of docking for extra boats. It could be a real good event and I would like to see 10 boats. With it being part of a St. Marys Regatta in the past they have had food for the regatta as part of the regatta so it could be a real big thing that could get started. How would you like a Hunter 23 National Champion Flag to hang on the wall at home??? I sure know I would. Cliff

How about August 25?

Sorry it took me awhile to respond here but I've been trying to sort out dates and coordinate other stuff which I'm still working on with our club. But, we are tentatively planning a cruiser's event at Indian Lake for the weekend of August 25/26. As mentioned before, there are already 6 H23's there. We could easily combine our dinner with a Hunter 23 regatta. For easier communication my email is sailordog@hotmail.com

So How Many???

So it looks like we have six, 7 if I can Get Gordy with my old boat to commit. It would be SOOOO much more fun to get more. I will look to see If I can get some from Lake Erie to make the trip when the season starts. What would the group like to see for how many races and what kind of of course do you want to race? The norm now is windward and leeward courses. If we have three races two on Sat and one on Sun we could then have some kind of Pot Luck Dinner and awards after the race on Sun. For two years I was the Sail Fleet Capain at the St. Marys Boat Club over on Grand Lake and that is the way we had it set up. It than gave time for people traveling to tear ther Boats down and get them ready to go. Ward I will assume you will be coming the farthest and will be using some Vaction time. You might want to consider going to Lake Erie after the Regatta for the rest of the week if it works for you. You will have a blast on Erie.
