Dear Hunter owners

Firstly - to those who gave advice on a bimini & sailbag - see below pic, works great and the boat is so much more guest-friendly for long days int he sun

Into next round of upgrades. Seeking ideas from the brains-trust!

1) Furling jib: Any ideas on setup, do's/don'ts?
For example:
- What sized furler? Will a small catamaran / dinghy one do, or need something larger?
- Where to mount the block for the furling line without obstructing the anchor well?
- Furling line down the side of the coach-house on the deck, or over the top of the coach-house? (I'd prob bring it portside all the way back to the helm as I often sail single-handed ... but seeking ideas)

2) Stanchion repair: Snapped a stanchion, but they don't seem readily available in this style here in Aus, does anyone know where to get them online? Tried hunter parts supplier to no avail

3) Ipad mounting for navigation: Seen smaller sailboats with ipads mounted in the companionway that gracefully swing out of the way as ppl climb in and out ... with the catch-cry on the boat being 'Swing the ipad back!!!' (... replacing the old 'lean back so I can see the compass!!!').
Seeking any ideas on how owners mount ipads (aka 'clayton's chart plotters')

... just interested to hear from anyone who's refurbed a Hunter 23. Really love the style of boat and want to bring her up to 'as new' condition.

Thanks!!!!
Tim

The iPad is easy. I have a binnacle guard that looks a lot like the steering bar handles on a byciycle. Mantus makes a solid clamp that uses the ram ball design. Ram makes great iPad or iPhone clamps.

I like the MarkIV furlers made by Harken.
They are clean and strong. They are designed to slip over your forestay. They fit above the deck and your anchor system. You must rebuild your genoa to accommodate the luff wire that slides the sail into the furler extrusion. As far as routing the furling line, they run along the stanchions attached low on the stanchion with small blocks to provide a smooth, fair lead for the line from the furler to the cockpit.

I can't take a photo of my anchor well, but the chain plate is inside the well, maybe halfway down the forward side. My Harken furler uses stainless tangs to position the drum about 5 or so inches above the locker hatches.

Boat is wrapped, but it has a set of three identical SS tangs. Two are bolted side-by-side to "sandwich" the chain plate (I use the upper chain plate to position the stay in the more forward position). These then "sandwich" the third tang at the top, which is in turn connected to the lower fitting of the furler. The length of the tangs should be enough to position the top hole of the top tang about 5 or 6 inches above the anchor well covers, and that top tang extends through the slot between the two locker covers.
