I ordered a bimini from this website the other day, and remembered a post from another member saying they were satisfied with the bimini they purchased, but would have liked to see stainless steel brackets where it attached to the coaming. I asked about the brackets and Sailboat Owners was able to upgrade the brackets to stainless for $15.00.

Cheers,

Chris

Glad to have been of help. Let me know how it works out - mainly in the side-side "rocking" of the bimini. Mine isn't terrible, but it's noticable, and you can see the nylon fingers bending. The other thing is that the bimini goes on and off, and there's threads in the nylon which I am sure have a limited life. I assume the stainless will use rings and pins?

I guess it should be said, I didn't actually buy the bimini - It got bought by the PO to make her boat a sweeter sell. (Thats why you don't have any record of me buying it, Phil!)

Truth is, I've hardly spent any money on the boat...crazy, isn't it! Now time..that's another story.

Chris, good to know you like it and about the recommended upgrade. I am also considering the Bimini for the H23 sold on this site. I also commented on another recent post regarding the ubiquitous "water in the bilge" on having a canvas cover for the companionway/sliding hatch would be a very desirable add on to solve this and that I would like to see them make one for the H23 and I expressed my annoyance and amazement that the canvas store doesnt have a premade pattern in stock for our boat model. Oh sure they tell you to send in a pattern. Now I admit that despite doing a ton of work myself on this boat I am less than thrilled at having to mail in a huge sheet of plastic, plus I would worry I didnt get the dimensions just right for it to fit correctly. But my point is, don't we all prefer having the convenience of premade availability and so why can't the proprietors just measure one of the many H23 themselves and have this useful product available to us. Its not like it is a one off custom job or a less than common model. They have the bimini and what looks like some very nice cockpit cushions for an H23, but those are more of "luxury" upgrades. Has any other H23 owner expressed interest in having this product available?

Brian, You'll really have to tell us all how you are able to do that. I have found out how true the jokes about the acronym "BOAT" and being a hole in the water to throw money in are. And this is a small boat. In the year and a half I have had my H23, excluding the upgrades & add ons, I have still spent as much on repair supplies and replacement parts at WM (not to menion Home Depot for sandpaper, rollers, etc) than the boat cost. Mind you, I did get a good deal on it and I am doing it cause I love the boat and want to improve and care for it, and its been a learning experience too, so I feel its worth it. Which I think we all feel for our boats.
