Hunter 23.5 -
Hello, Can anyone tell me the differences between the Hunter 23.5 and 240? Other than the obvious .5ft LOA difference, they seem to be almost identical. I also understand the 240 has 300lbs more displacement with ballast tanks empty. Does the centerboard of the 240 provide any ballast? Has anyone sailed both boats and if so, how did their performance compare? Thanks!

I looked at both..

and liked the 23.5 better. Its sailing weight is 4 or 500 lbs less and carries more sail. That means you have to reef earlier, but in light wind conditions its quite a bit faster. Also, the tow weight is less on the 23.5 if that matters. I'm used to dinghy sailing, so heeling is fun for me. My 23.5 is perfectly balanced and can sail at 35 degrees with just a pinky on the tiller. I would suggest you sail both, but if stability is a bigger concern than an edge in speed, I'd go with the 240. It all depends on you:)
