I'm a new owner of a 23.5 Hunter. The rudder had some acrylic or plastic fall out between the black plates that sandwich the rudder. It came out in pieces. I believe the tiller would move on it when you raise or lower the tiller. It was a white plastic . I'm not sure where it goes or how much area it uses. It's not shown in the owners manual. Help!

They are about 4 or 5 inches high and wide as the aluminium side plates. they are held by the upper bolt and the bolt that holds the tiller. They sandwich the tiller between them. you can draw them on a piece of carton and see how they fit. The important thing is that they don't overlap on the rubber friction pads below them.
I replaced mine this summer. I used white polycarbonate, but I had one of the old ones to use as a template. They basically just need to be long enough to be held in place by the bolts and cover the tiller. You may also want to make new spacers that fit over the bolts. They're also white poly and get brittle with age.
