Hunter 23.5 New Orleans
My new to me, 1993 23.5, came with no fresh water tank. The galley "flipper" hand water pump is in place. I tested it and the pump works fine.

I'm trying to sort out what the original fresh water tank installation looked like, the original fresh water tank dimensions, how the original tank was secured inside the galley molding, and what good ideas / modifications others have made to improve access for tank removal for refilling and reinstallation once filled. (As the available slips in New Orleans post Katrina still are without pressure fresh water, my replacement tank must be easily removed for filling and reinstalled.)

Many thanks & best Easter wishes.

It had a 3ish gallon plastic collapsible bladder. The other end of the water line screws on top of the bladder and you can flip/pivot the end where it screws on to block the flow. I have 2 bladders on my boat, one for use and one for spare. Bladders fit in under the sink.

Yes, these 'unpressurized' water systems on small boats are extremely simple. If I recall correctly, the Cat 22 had a milk jug screwed into the hand pump.

If you don't want to pay marine prices, try camping supplies. I'm sure you can find a suitable replacement tank. (I find many galley solutions from those sources)

Because of the small size of that tank, I always brought bottled water with me for any extended stays.

I would suggest that you look at camping stores for the collapsable bladder as that is where I have seen them which is what Hunter used on that boat.

I put a plastimo 39.6 gal flexible tank under the aft berth on the port side. I put a deck fill on the port gunwale just infront of the port cockpit locker and ran the fill hose thru the fiberglass storage area to the tank. I added a 12v shurflo pump and faucet. I think it holds about 20 gal and works great not having to remove that small tank to fill it.
