Here's how I mounted my little 5-watt solar panel using the mast crutch holes on my H240. Electric conduit fit the crutch hole perfectly. Keeps the battery topped off from light weekend use. I have a charge controller inside near the battery, since it's only a 35ah wheelchair battery.

Wow - thanks for all that Dave, great story, and delighted that you responded. Yep, it's true, got your signature on the original paperwork to prove it. Do you remember an MD from NJ? I won't mention any names here, wouldn't be right, but he loved this boat. He kept meticulous service records (and I can tell you, he paid handsomely at those NJ marinas - ouch!). He did have a mishap and punched a small hole in her hull, the blue part (sad face), but he had her professionally repaired (whoo-wee, another nice tab!). She had two more owners, the last of which I found in my backyard. I couldn't believe my luck! I nearly pulled the trigger on a 26S, twice, but something just kept gnawing at me, and then WHAM! Found her. I truly enjoy reading your posts, I've learned so much from you, and all the members here. I hope to be able to contribute something useful someday. You bet I'll look you up if (more like when) we tow down there. That place should be listed as one of the wonders of the world - and you have the lake in the middle of it! PS - did you know Bill Kovacs? He owned a GMC dealership nearby, had a boat named, "What's Up Dock", and threw huge parties. I seem to think he had a stake in the restaurant there at the Bridge for a very short time. Oh well, that's all in the past. Thanks for posting the info on the pin - got one coming (along with a bunch of stuff I probably don't need - ha!).

Hey Caverun - thanks for posting. I'll never buy a boat without a mast crutch - ha! The mount looks plenty rugged! How does the charging perform? I'm thinking you could cut the charge in half and still have plenty. Hey - what is that plate mounted at the stern? Is that for the rudder? Don't got one on the 23.5. I read the 23.5's rudder is a bit heavy, so maybe they redesigned that part for the 240?

take a look at your rudder and make sure there are no seperations where the rudder is married together. If so, send me an email. I think I may have met Kovacs but mention my name to him. See if he remembers my dealership on Rt. 122 with the upside down catamaran sign? As for Caverun, guess what, I know him as a kid and dad from all places, Smith Mt. Lake. Caverun, when are you coming home your rascal? I need to see you. Finished the basement with two addl. bedrooms which now makes a 5 bedroom home with magnificent views of the mountains. Ggordonwood and Caverun, as my grandmother would say, we have a hook to hang up your coat on here if you want to come. Ggordon, send me a private email via forum email. By the way we did have a obnoxious loud bullfrog that visited last year at SML and I think he is still a croakin to get back there which is Mr. Kermit.

Hey Dave, I will certainly do that. But definitely no road trips this year, I'm just hoping to float her in a couple weeks and rig the new slip. All baby steps for now just get her tied up. I should also clarify that the PO had the pin in the mast crutch (of course, very sensible), not the trailer extension (I might have been shopping for a new boat if that were the case - ha!). The trailer pin was the last L shaped pin I remembered seeing (only see the boat on weekends). I spent all day yesterday figuring out the mast wiring. The 3-pin Perko connectors died, so instead of a simple replacement, the PO drilled a hole in the deck and bedded a new 4-pin Perko, then ran new 4-cond marine trailer wire through the boat, and up the mast. I'm actually ok with that. After I switch everything back to the 3-pin, I'll replace the 4-cond in the mast with a 5-cond mast cable to power up an instrument/camera package at the mast head. I'm going to take a look at that rudder now. Thanks again!
