Rick, Thank you so much for that little tidbit of information about the trailer extension and tension on the winch strap. I purchased my 23.5 last fall and had to extend the tongue to get the boat out of the water and on the trailer. The tongue seemed to come out easy enough. But there was much swearing and gnashing of teeth trying to get the tongue back in. I couldn't figure out where the bending stress was coming from, but that makes total sense. Ill add that to my notes. It was really a pain to get back in and I know the strap was tight for transport.
Thank you both so much! I have been loosing my mind trying to figure out why I can't that tongue back in, even after moving it so freely without the boat on the trailer. I will definitely make a note of this for this coming fall!

Hi Chris. I have a Hunter 23.5 at the Nokamixin Marina.
Ha! The PO of my H23.5 had a slip there. The ship is "The Great Escape", you may have seen it. Turns out, papers show the boat was purchased new from non other than our own, "Crazy Dave". She's at my place at Lake Wallenpaupack now. Hey, no offense, but our rangers aren't half the pricks you have. I was just looking at a Mac 26S for sale there last year and one of the uniformed pricks figured out what I was doing and hurriedly drove out to "inform" me that I would NEVER get a slip there because, "THEY WERE FULL!" I swear to you, there wasn't even a sign on the boat. He admitted he found the ad on Craigslist. It was creepy, like some secret police thing! Sheesh, I can't imagine how they act out on the water.

I know the boat and I met the PO. It is a nice looking boat.

The rangers are unique here for sure but I have not had any issues so far (knock on wood). I had to wait a season to get a slip but now in season 2 at the marina.

Good luck with your boat.

Thanks everyone for your help! Successful launch yesterday and the weather not only cooperated, but was beautiful!
Yup, that's what we're here for... ha! I can't say if I've ever given any credible advice, but we H23.5, H240, H260 owners are extremely fortunate to have Dave Condon looking over our shoulders. No sounder advice anywhere to be found, always just inside the design limits. Hey, don't forget to check over the stalks and bunks on your trailer for cracks now that's she's empty. I have some very rusted bolts that need to be replaced this year. Happy sailing!

Yes, Steve. Former Royal Air Force I believe. Fine fellow. But his knees gave out and he couldn't go forward over that damn cabin top anymore. Has a pontoon now I think. My knees are better, still squatting near 300, no problem getting up there (my trouble is usually around the motor). Don't get me wrong about the rangers, I respect authority, and I guess we need them, but that guy was over the top. Happy sailing!

Dish Soap works great.
I now use the plastic bunk covers and they work great as well. The down side is they always work great so the boat must ALWAYS be secured to the trailer except when you are ready for it to come off. Should be anyway at the front and rear.

Guide Posts
I drop longer pieces of PVC pipe over the top and remove them when the boat is on the trailer

Draw Bar
I use two. My old truck I used the bumper hitch and the draw bar with the most drop I could fit between the hitch and the street. Now I use two different ones but have to take a hydraulic floor car jack with me as the tounge jack won't work that low.
