I need to replace the parts that hold the forestay to the bow on my 1993 Hunter 23.5, anybody know the nomenclature/specs and a source for parts?

What happened is, first time out I launched from the town harbor and was motoring to my dock in a creek. Discovered there was a power line across the creek (Duh!), so had to drop the mast in mid-creek to get home. In the process of disconnecting the forestay, the little parts went into the drink, now I have no connection for the forestay.

I am going to guess maybe they are Schaefer parts like the rigging blocks, but the Shaefer links on this site only yield error messages.

Also bent two of the T-bolts for the side-stay turnbuckles, so will need to replace them as well - hoping to replace only the T-bolts and not the entire stays.

Any advice welcome.

secosouth is a good source for the t-bolts... the forestay pins you can get from west marine, or probably any chandlery... sorry, can't remember the size, but SecoSouth will know

Be sure to bring your shroud turn buckle with you to the store when replacing your T bolts. Not all turn buckles fit all T bolts even though ostensibly the same size. You must find T bolts which work with your turnbuckle because you know your turnbuckle fits swedged bolt at the end of your shroud. Avoid the expense of buying a combination T bolt with a turnbuckle as the latter may not fit your shroud. I've bought my several T bolt replacements at West, but even there, check the fit to be sure.

Kind regards

The little parts mentioned can be anything but I suspect that he is referring to the clevis pin with a circular ring. Most anyone would have those and they generally are 1/4 inch size. If it is the turnbuckle, you can buy parts from most anywhere. If you are purchasing a turnbuckle stud that screws up into the turnbuckle body, please take that with you. Most people do not realize that when turning the turnbuckle body, one end is left handed and the other is right handed which you need to know and some different manufacturer studs sometimes will not fit another mfg. turnbuckle body. So Hugh is correct to take that with you when you go to the store.

Dave, the "little pieces" include the clevis, circular ring, and the metal plate that the clevis joined between the stay and the bow fitting. So it has to have a slot the right size for the end of the stay.

You will need a new turnbuckle stud but make sure you take the turnbuckle to the store to fit the new stud and the bottom of that stud which is like a U shackle of sorts is integral with the stud unless some mickey mouse arrangement was on the boat. Also, mark the turnbuckle body as to which side you have to match up as I too got to the store sometimes and forgot which side it was.
