....... you would use zincs on the SS plates would be if there was a less noble material attached to the plates. This is why an SS prop shaft with a bronze prop has a zinc, primarily for the protection of the prop. Now, that having been said, if you leave your boat in salt water for extended periods of time and you marina has electrical problems, yes, you may require a zinc.The best acid test may be to keep an eye on the plates to see if there is any problem with corrosion over time. If there is, you may want to consider attaching a zinc or perhaps setting up an overboard zinc which may be easier.Regards,s/v Island Hunter
