Hi guys, sorry I am a real newbie here. I guess this is a really dumb question. i just bought a 1981 hunter. need to move it from Baldwin NY to Hampton Bays, about 75 miles. I have a pro hauler doing it. My problem is i am so new at this i can't even figure out how to haul the keel all the way up. the line does not seem to have a cleat or anything to tie off to. how does this keel work? i have looked hi and low for an owners manual or after market manuals for this boat and all i finid is hunter's 2-3 page brochure and drawings. not a lot of help. can anyone recommend a link or a book to get me going with this?

I don't know about the hunter 22, but most

boats that size have a winch somewhere, maybe below deck. It might look like a trailer tongue winch, and the handle might be taken off. Look for an unidentified chunk of metal in the centre of the boat above the back end of the keel when it's up. Near or under the front of the cockpit. If you find it and the handle is not there, look on the boat for that piece of bent metal you didn't know the purpose of. Don't be worried about your lack of information. Stupid is if you don't ask

It's in the Cabin Table.

I do not have a manual but have seen one and it was not very helpful. This site and the great people here have been the best for getting help and advice. The keel (centerboard) is made of foam covered with fiberglass and only weighs about 100 lbs. All of the ballast is in the bottom of the boat under the floor boards. There should be a line inside the table that comes out the front. There should also be a cleat just inside the slot that catches it as you pull out and down. Lift to let it out and down. I hate to repeat this but since I am at work I do not have pictures. I do have them on my website. http://www.members.aol.com/earlfixit/home.html
