I'm going to be hauling my fixed keel 22 out for a bottom job later this summer. There's a small access port under the steps that I assume is for the back keel bolt. Am I correct in assuming (no jokes) that to access the other bolt, I'll have to remove the table from the center trunk? Next question. There's always about a quart of water that is in the bilge under the floorboards. I mop it up - next time I check - it's back! Is this "normal" (anything to be concerned about? Thanks.

keel bolts

My 1984 Hunter 22 also has a fixed keel. It has the aft keel bolt under the inspection port, as you mentioned. It also has one bolt under the saloon table. Unfortunately, I have to remove the table completely to see the bolt. I've been told some boats have two bolts under the table, but mine only has one. My bilge also has frequent water, but it's there even when the boat is in drydock, so I figure it must be coming from above.

Keel bolts, water

Mine also collects water below the floor boards, and I believe it comes from above for the same reasons. I believe the companionway hatch tends to let some water in that runs down. I find that using an aspirator, like a waterbed fill/drain kit, and running a hose down there will really suck all the water out without too much trouble.
