I have a Hunter 216 and about to buy an outboard. What is the recommended shaft length--standard (15 inch) or long (20 inch)? Online I see photos of 216s with both.

while you can use a short shaft, you really want the long shaft model - since the OB is the extreme aft end of the 216, as you go over waves the outboard will lift out of the water. the long shaft will ensure that the prop and cooling water pickup will stay submerged
MAYBE you'll find a 25-inch shaft in the HP size and manufacturer that you prefer .
