I have never seen the 216 other than in photo's. To me its one ugly boat. I guess this was a replacement for the 19 and 22 hunters???

Nope

Nope. It's not a replacement for anything. It's a day sailing/racing boat. It's not a cruiser. The 23.5 replaced the 22 and 23.

Beauty is in the eye....

Just curious--why do you think its so ugly? To me it looks similar to a lot of other cuddy-cabin daysailers.

Cabin profile

From the side, to me they did not put alot of thought into the cabin. Just my thoughts... I'm not bashing, really.

The boat was intended to have a

large cockpit for racing and a small cuddy cabin (a place to put a porta potty and keep stuff dry)for daysailing. This is an old age design. What are you comparing it to?

Nothing wrong with it

I was comparing it to Precision, Catalina and some older Hunter's. Nothing wrong with the boat, I just wish they had somthing smaller than their 25.

complements

I have always received complements when people have seen my H216. It is a good boat for what it was designed for. If you want a pocket cruiser to over-night in, this isn't the one to get. The cabin is unfinished and too small. If you want a strictly day sailor/racer where someone can duck in the cabin for some privacy to use a porta-potty (or kids take a nap) its a great boat.

I'm with Jeff on this

My experience is the same as Jeff's with regard to the H216 appearance. Most people seem to like what they are looking at. For a day sailor it is hard to beat since it does have a fairly roomy cabin. Before the H216 I had a Flying Scot that is a fairly nice day sailor, but the H216 is a much nicer boat with a lot more room and greater stability in high winds.
