I'm very new to sailing and new to this group. I just recently purchased a hunter 212. Lovely boat. The prior owner son broke the center board cable hitting a sandbar. I've removed the screws from the cover in the cabin on the floor board thinking I can fix the problem there. Nope, can't do that. So I had a friend help me to jack the baby up and rest her on shipping crates high enough so that the center board will drop. It did have way. I can see a thin broken wire. I saw this wire with another broken twisted type wire under the plate in the cabin.
Now that I have the boat high enough for the center board to drop, and it isn't. What holding it in place in the housing, keeping it from dropping for complete. Under the deck where you sit, I saw a line that was neatly weaved through rope feeders (I don't know if this is the right name), but the line locked into a rope stay that mounted on the side of the same cover where I removed and replaced the two screws in the cover over the center board housing in the cabin.
I know this is confusing. Sorry. What I'm trying to say is. I need to know how to remove the centerboard, remove the cables, replace them.
Please help. If you have photos, please share them.
I will take pictures today and post them.
