Been enjoying the season with our 19 hunter but it gets a little scary when the boat is in 2 to 3 foot wakes of the motor boats
Do you think we would be safer if we had a bit more ballast and a fixed keel
as we only are water ballasted now
We keep the boat in a slip and dont trailer it far
What would be a good next size boat in the hunter line or other brands

A fixed keel boat with the ballast in the keel would definitely be more stable, but not as practical to beach or trailer.

The most important thing is, when approaching a wake or any wave, is to try to take it as much on the bow as possible. Turn into the wake if at all possible. This way the bow will better cut into the wake, and the boat is much more stable forward to aft than it is across it's beam.
