I have an older 1989 Hunter 18 with a broken mast. The break occurred at the spreaders and the mast is in 2 pieces. . I am looking to find a replacement extrusion. Does anyone out there have any suggestions where I might locate one. My preference would be to order an extrusion and and I can remove my old parts and attach them to the new mast. If I can't find the part I need then 2 questions come to mind.
1. Is it possible to repair this broken mast with a sleeve that will allow spreader attachment and be strong enough to be sea worthy?
2. Can a used mast be found that would be in good enough shape. I would hate to go to the trouble and have the same thing happen. I believe the mast was weakened at the rivets where the spreader mounting hardware was attached.
