A money driven thing..
Whats the cost of the move, etc. versus doing the work in a marina yard? In my case I was farther ahead paying the movers with a hydraulic trailer to fetch my 34'er drop it in my back yard on purchased Brownelle jackstands and then to fetch it again to the water upon completion of the work.....however, my work includes a bottom job, rebedding hardware, fiberglass work, complete electronics and re-wire, new running rigging, some thru-hulls, and some standing rigging....etc. The project has taken over 14 months so far and at over $300+/mo for yard storage....I broke even in about 6 months...and I get to sell/swap the jackstands when I'm finished... The convenience of having it accessible outside the back door has been a tremendous help and motivator. On the east coast some movers that do NOT require a crane to pick-up a boat on their hydraulic trailers include: The Boat Exchange (803-732-7424) or Big Dog (843-813-1441).....If you have to step your mast with a boom truck...thats added cost... Good Luck
