Steady Hand? -- Easy job
I just redid the striping on my 361. When I bought the boat the stripes and canvas were green. I redid the whole boat in Captain Navy. It looks so much better! I ordered the hull stripe tape from Beneteau. It was about $40. I got the tape for the cabin top from West Marine, but I'm sure Beneteau would have had it, too. I just "dewaxed" the old tape and put the new tape down on the old. The water line "stripe" is molded in gel coat, so I am going to paint over that next month when I have the boat out of the water for a bottom paint job. If you want to remove the old tape, there is an electric drill attachment that buffs it off, but then you will have to have a really good eye for getting the new tape back on in a straight line. If your old tape is still attached pretty well, I can't see any negative to covering it with the new. The tape is so thin that you can't really see a "build up" of tape doing it this way. On my boat the hull stripe is in a molded depression anyway.I don't know why Beneteau went through a green phase with their boats. Mine looks so much better in Navy blue. I guess it's a matter of personal taste. I also buffed off the old "Green B" transom logo. You can order a chrome metal "Seahorse" logo from Beneteau and I'm thinking about screwing that to the transom in its place. Beneteau also offers the Seahorse logo in 6" silver or 6" gold decals (they come in right and left pairs). I'm very glad they won back the rights to use the Seahorse logo.My 361 had "Beneteau" written all over it with decals. I buffed all of these off and just left the metal "Beneteau" plate on either side of the cabin top. I think this looks better, too. I'm no longer a floating billboard.
