OK, this is a little off-topic cuz it's not a sailboat, but I know there are some serious Marine Architects here (KOFF!RogerKOFF!), and it has to do with hulls that COULD be sailed...
I'm looking at building a 16ft boat to put my 10hp diesel in, and came across Atkins' "Sixteen Two" http://www.boat-links.com/Atkinco/Utilities/SixteenToo.html
Now, it sure looks to me like a displacement hull, with that much rocker, but the blurb insists it goes "10 to 11 miles per hour" with a small engine. Does this make sense? I've posted this question twice on the Atkins' mailing-list, but apparently they don't like any post that seems to criticize an Atkins design
Any thoughts? is 8-9 knots reasonable for this shape of hull?
