Does anyone know of a ersource for comparing one models hull w/ another? To clarify, if i am looking at boats for sale on line i may find two models of different make which are similar but are only pictured above the waterline. I wonder where i can get a look at the plans or out of water photos. Most manufacturers web site seem not to be helpful in this regard (i am currently lergely limited to web access for info). thank you for any help you can offer fair winds... -patrick

Start Walking the Boat Yards

Dear Patrick, Your going to have to do your own homework in this area. The best place to start is browsing the boat yards this time of year. All the boats are stored neatly and quietly on the hard, waiting for guys like us to walk up and kick the tires. Once you see the different hull styles that a particular manufacture builds, then you will be able to form an opinion as to which type of boat you should be looking at,......above the water line. Good homework will never let you down. Good Luck to you, Jack Beneteau 411

i wish!

I agree with you whole heartedly jack. I wish to heck i could do that...but my job has me in a very remote locale until august. I am hoping to do as much research as possible online. I have never owned a cruising sailboat so i am suddenly looking at it differently than i had in the past. I'm looking for something two people can sail from NH to CA. My experience (mostly bigger boats) tells me that a full keel is what I want Btu I sure am open to other ideas. Ahhh well, alas for the time being it is all wishful thinking and point-and-clicking. thanks for the response jack. fair winds -patrick
