Bought a H33 in 2007 (new) with interprotect and VC17 on the hull.

Major peeling occured when the boat was pulled out in Oct 2008.

Hunter indicates that paint is not on warantee. They did pay for the sanding and appliaction of new interprotect but refused to pay for the application of VC17 claiming that this was yearly maintenence in any case.

Anyone had this issue?

If it was the barrier paint which failed and they put it on, it's a good bet they didn't properly prep the hull causing both to peel. I would expect whoever did the work to take responsibility for both but since you got a year out of a one-year paint, it would seem you have nothing to complain about with the VC17.

Original hull prep had to be inadequate. More than likely "mold release wax" wasn't properly and/or completely removed. Can you tell if the interprotect peeled off down to gelcoat? Local dealer did the work? Whomever applied the interprotect is where the problem started. Like Don said, you're out of luck on the VC17.
