This weekend I had to beach my boat since the wonderful Corp of engineers thinks a 10'x10' dock is big enough for a four lane launch ramp. Anyways,I just noticed some heavy chipping*in the bottom paint, all the way through to the gelcoat I can't find any cracks or fiberglass showing. Is there a quick fix patch job I can use to get me through the season before I can get a new paint job?

Get a quart of inexpensive (oxymoron?) bottom paint, a disposable chip brush and slap it on the areas in question....if you're boat's on the beach you can have someone haul on a halyard to get it leaning for better access. The paint will dry very quickly. Check the bare spots to see if you need to rough the gel coat a bit... When you haul out for your next bottom painting you can prep it properly and do a more complete job. This fix will get you through the season only.
