HIN
After November 1, 1972 hull numbers were required to be placed on the starboard transom and be no less than 1/4" high. Before that date, they were not required. Boats manufactured on or after August 1, 1984 also have a duplicate secondary HIN affixed somewhere on an unexposed location inside the boat or beneath a fitting or item of hardware.
