I am in the process of purchasing a project boat that was last owned by a marina. At any rate, the marina is in the process of locating the title now and they may have to apply for a lost title. the sailboat is a 19 ft. "Mariner" Oday (approx. late seventies/ early eighties). This is my first sailboat, but I have owned numerous power boats, including a 23 ft. sea craft that I currently own. Despite a somewhat thorough search, I have been unable to locate the hull number. Does anyone know where the hull number may be located on the hull? We need the hull number for a couple of reasons. I sincerely hope someone can help me out. Incidentally, I throroughly checked the transom area to no avail. thanx in advance.

Check with other owners at the mariner site and they will be able to give you more information regarding the model and where the HIN may be located. After a certain date, (I think 1979) the Mariner was called the 2+2 as it had a cuddy bulkhead, and two quarter berths. Prior to that date and after HIN's were required (Nov 1971) the HIN was inside the cuddy, I believe. Before that they were not required, but the sail number (if original) may be of some use in dating your boat for purposes of registration of title. http://usmariner.org/phpBB2/

Mine was on Transom
I have a 1970 Mariner 2+2 and the Hull & Class #'s were stamped into a small metal plate that was affixed to the inside of the transom centered under the tiller. As Roger suggested you may want to post your question at the Mariner site (www.usmariner.org) or at the Yahoo Mariner Group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MarinerSailors/).
