I have a 1976 Hunter 30. I'm ordering a new main sail and want to have my hull number on it. HIN is HUN50577M76K. Does anyone know where the number that represents the sequential hull number for my boat is in this number?

Thanks,

John

Hi John!
I looked through some old links and found this:
HUN = Manufacturer (Hunter)
50577 = Hull Serial #
M76K = Date of Certification; K = June, therefore June of 1976

Now I doubt Hunter made over 50,000 of those so I suspect the series started at 50000 and yours is 577. Your choice though.
This Saturday looks to be very nice. Are you planning to go to the marina?

Clark is correct, you have H30 number 577. Mystery is why the 30 was designated the 50. My H37 is HUN37xxx.

Good catch Ed. Sometimes those things are a PITA to read so it may very well be a '3'.

Hi Clark, I'm going to be at the marina tomorrow to take some measurements for the new sail - not sure about Saturday.

When I'm at the boat I'll try to find the number stamped on the hull. The HUN50577M76K came from the Title Certificate, so it could be a typo.

They're usually stamped at the top of the transom - starboard side. Good luck!

The On-Going Hull Number Mystery

The number on my '82 H30 is HUN71155M82E. I assume that means hull number 1155. If they made 577 H30s by June of '76, then producing 1155 by whatever month E represents in 1982 sounds plausible, but why would the first digit of the series change? :confused:

No visual impairment here.
