Hull number

The hull identification on my recently purchased Pearson 33 reads:

DLZAM0620587 Will someone please tell me what these letters and numbers mean?

That doesn't look right unless this is a very old Pearson built before hull numbers were standardized. I'm pretty sure an 80's or later vintage Pearson should have a hull# that starts with PEA.....

I forgot to mention that my Pearson 33 was built in 1972 at least that's how the title reads. It has a Zanmar engine although the opening to the tank reads GAS.The previous owner installed the diesel engine some years ago. The engine control panel is located on the stbd side forward of the locker but the engine speed and gear throttle is located about 5 feet aft also on the same side. My first project next spring is to relocate the engine control panel aft.

1972 was the change over to to using VIN on cars with boats to follow shortly. There will be no title for a car or boat pre-1973 vintage.
I'm not sure when Pearson started putting HINs on their boats but there was no need to until 1973 when Titles became the law = the Title necessitated the HIN and VIN.
Could very well be a made up HIN that you have.

There 'should' be (or was) a cast bronze plate just below the entry to companionway ... listing/showing your Hull Number:

RichH is correct (as usual). Even my 1967 Tartan 27' has a hull number on a bronze plaque over the companionway but has not 'real' HIN.
