Sailors, I'm the owner of a Hunter 28.5 with on the sites of the hull the description CT2587AR. Why is this ? Can I remove it ? Jasper.

Number on Hull

The number you are referring to is the state registration number. It is probably the registration number of the previous owner which would have been from Connecticut. You must be very new to boating if you do not know what this is. Most likely you will register the boat in your state if you plan to use it with a motor on it and you will be assigned numbers. You will remove the old numbers and place your new ones on the hull in the proper manner as required by state law. Look at many boats and you will see these state registration numbers. If a boat is documented, USCG, you do not need stste registration numbers. Good luck with your new boat.

Hunter Hull Number

Hunter (at least in recent years) has "imbedded" a hull number on each production hull. I believe it is on the aft starboard side and is about an inch high. You really have to look to find it. It is coded with model numer, year of manufacture, and sequential number within that year (for that model). Take a look and good luck.

The boat you own was registered in Connecticut. When you register it in your home state (presumably New York) you will have a new registration number that will read NY #### (letter)(letter)This number has no relation to the hull ID number issued by Hunter. You must remove the old reg. number and display the new NY number.
