G’Day to you. I am hoping you will weigh in with your expertise regarding my 1987 O'Day 222 hull lining. Is the blue paint on the interior hull in the cabin storage areas original factory applied? What is the purpose of the blue paint? Pictures attached.
My 1987 O’Day 222 has blue paint on the cabin hull inside all the storage areas (blue paint in cabin storage only). Other clues: There appears to be a repair that was done near the starboard through hull. Also- there is a blue paint drip under the sink- that indicates the blue paint was applied after the sink was installed.
In contrast, there is white paint inside the hull on the cockpit lazarette - but white paint ONLY on the port side. The starboard lazarette side hull interior is a black color.
Is this blue paint stock from the factory? What is the purpose of the blue paint?
I will follow this post with questions regarding the blue styrofoam that was stuffed in nooks and crannies in the cabin storage areas when I bought the boat. Not sure if the blue paint and blue styrofoam were present to address a related function??
BTW- Hull had an ablative antifouling paint when boat was purchased.
