The hull liner/covering (behind settees, in the v-berth) in our Crown looks like a coarse burlap type of fabric, light beige in colour. As it is 25 yrs old it is a bit dull and dingy. Curious what others have used to cover the fiberglass of the interior? I was thinking of a synthetic ultra low pile type of carpet sorta thing... Any advice? David

Mildew
Carpeting will hold moisture and may promote mildew growth. It would be difficult to clean carpeting. I would look for a similar material to what is there. Something that can be easily wiped down. I have seen teak and holly laminate on this area in some boats and it looks quite sharp. Tim R.

is a coarse weave burlap looking stuff only lighter in colour. It is 25 years old so looks a bit dog eared... thick vinyl might be ok, easy to clean, relatively inexpensive.

I have seen a cedar strip covering
which was very nice. You might even be able to leave the existing fabric in place. Just put up some thin strips to attach the other pieces to. Leave a little space between the covering strips and it will allow for some ventilation. How are things in Sydney? We have never stayed there but Tsehum Harbor is nice.

Just south of Blaine
Blaine is on Drayton Harbor mainland side. Then comes Semiahmoo Spit on the strait side of the harbor. South of Semiahmoo is Birch Point where we are and then Birch Bay. I guess we are about thirty miles east and a little north of Sydney. Wonderful place - two hours south to Sucia Island in the San Juans - usually on a reach. Birch Bay is the only salt water I know of south of Desolation Sound where it is so shallow that it warms enough that you can swim in it in the summer. When the tide is very low, the water goes out about a half a mile.
