Help!
I bought a 37' Hunter Cutter Sloop (on e-bay) and the hull i.d. numbers don't add up. Can anyone tell me what they mean? I'm trying to sell it and am having some serious problems with the identity of this vessel.
HUN50935M78-30
Thanks!

Is that the actual number on the starboard upper corner of the transom? It is not like any H37C number I have ever seen. There is not even a '37' in the number. Here is mine 'HUN37074M79H', meaning a Hun37, #074, Made in H(Mar) of 1979.

There is another numbering scheme but the change was made in 1984: http://www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.html .

Are you quoting the hull identification from the bill of sale? You still need to see if it matches what is on the stern of the hull.

hull number and clear title

I've seen some pretty odd 1970's and older hull ID #'s but what's going to be key is that the number on the boat exactly matches what's on the USCG doc..bill of sale and or state title that you received when you purchased it. What problem are you having?

What was the name of this boat?

If it was ever documented it is still on the USCG website.

It was named "Nirvana" but it is not written anywhere on the boat or any documentation. This information was provided to me yesterday by the charity
