Hull Ident. No. (HIN)

Hi everyone,

On the SSR application form they ask for the HIN. Is this the Vega
build No.? Or something different? Do Vegas even have a HIN and, if so,
where would it be found?

Dear Steve,

I have just bought Vagrant, sail number 1718 and have applied to join the UK association. I note that the HIN is 1617. Shouldn't the two numbers be the same?

Hi John

No the internal number is just a build number they used whilst in teh
factory. The important number is your Vega/Sail number. This can be found on
the bronze plate in the cockpit.

There is a rough guide of numbers, engines, year

Series I - Petrol Engine Albin 021/022 - V0001 to V1385 ish - 1967 to1971

Series II - Diesel Engine Volvo MD6A/B - V1386 to V3020 ish - 1972 to 1976

Series III - Diesel Engine Volvo MD7A - V3021 to V3450 ish - 1977 to 1979

This is an approximation so dont hold me to exact numbers.
