I have a 1979 27' C27. Where can I find my Hull ID numbers....? I have numbers on my Florida title in the Hull ID space but the guys at Boat U.S. Insurance say they are not the real Hull Numbers. They look like the Reg. numbers of NJ. with HULL added on to the end to make a 12 number hull number. I'm thinking the boat may of been junked or salvaged long ago and the original numbers removed.....so the new owners just put the NJ. reg. numbers as the new hull mumbers and got a new title in NJ......any thoughts.....?.....:)

I don't know if Catalina did things differently in '79, but I think every Catalina I've seen has the number inscribed by hand in the hull on the starboard side all the way aft, just below the rubrail.

That is the location mandated by law for manufacturers of boats built since 1973.

Interesting. I have a 1979 Catalina 25, hull id number CTYK1207M79H according to my certificate of title, and also have Boat US insurance. They didn't complain about mine. Does yours look a lot difference from that?

I also owned a 27 that did not have the hull number where it should have been up high on stbd side. Mine had been painted with Imron so who knows what the POs had done? There were not even any ghost marks, but the PO somehow provided a hull number when I bought it
