A friend has come into an early Ranger 26. No registration on hull. Where do we find it? He needs to establish a paper trail before he can register it. HELP!
Gary, I will assume it is not on the upper transom whence it is 'normally'.This is a source of pain in the backside for surveyors everwhere, and was not mandatory till the 80's.Oft there is a 'hidden' HIN no in case of theft. You might need a midget and a good mirror, use a headlamp, works best.Look on the inside of the transom, and in the lazerette, lockers etc.
Gary, Hidden HIN'S became mandatory in 1984, the 'obvious ones in November of 1972.Jan, Feb, Mar, of 1973, or earlier there were no HIN'S on Rangers. The builders 1-1/2 inch high 'sail' numbers should be inside the hull either on starboard aft or inside the cockpit locker on transom; if painted then bye, bye.
