hull delamination?

I have an O'Day DaySailor - 1965 - and have notice movement in the hull. A fiberglass friend of mine took a look-see and told me that the fiberglass is delaminating. Big messy job to repair - expensive - not worth the effort - and that I cannot sell it in this condition. The portion of the hull that is affected is the bottom across the centerboard trunk. Anyone care to dispute his claim that it's the death knell for Daisy Sail?Kellys/v Daisy Sail

Reality Check

Your friend is giving you the facts of life. Any repair to a boat is a compromise. Is the repair worth the time and effort, given the value of the vessel? Only you can determine that. There are other factors though. Like maybe you LOVE this boat and don't want to give up on her. Is there a better boat in the next bay for sale that you can afford? Maybe, who knows. If it was me, and I tend to be a gambler here, I'd attempt the repair, after gleaning as much info as I can digest (and there is tons out there), and pick the brains of your glass friend. You may not get the repair completely right, but it would be good enough to give a few more years to an old friend. And you will have learned some good skills for your future boats.
