While tinkering at the marina I noticed the hull/deck joint at the
shroud chain plates is lifted about 1/8" . There are no leaks. I guess
35 years of stress on the shrouds has done this. Does anyone have a
similar experience, or some info on this?
Thanks.

She has a piece of aluminum channel across all three chainplates that
extends a little beyond the rear and forward plates, so I believe
it's well supported.
Maybe my rig is set up a little too tightly. I think I'll loosen the
turnbuckes a bit and try tightening all the nuts holding the aluminum
braces. When I haul it this winter everything will have a chance
to 'relax'.
Thanks.

I this winter removed my under deck "spreader bars" that spread the weight
from the shrouds.

I did this as I started to get white dust appear on the book shelf area.
Although they looked good on the under side, when I eventually got them out
it was obvious there was some corrosion and the holes had enlarged
considerably.

I therefore, not only changed the deck fittings, ie U bolts but cleaned up
and then added some extra backing to spread the load again. I can now be
confident that the deck fittings will not pull through the deck on a windy
night.

Check for white dust on the book shelves !!!

Happy sailing
