Anybody have experience cleaning out old and installing new hull-deck joint sealer? My '79 28 ft model lets in water off shore. I plan to use a small wire brush like the ones for cleaning weapons to clean the joint, then apply 5200. Any experience? suggestions?

Fiberglass at the Joint

On my 25, the joint is fiberglassed on the inside of the hull. I'm not sure if O'Day, routinely did this, or only on some models or only for some years? I'ts possible that it was also done by a previous owner. I know that some boat manufacturers do this as a 3rd line of defence at the joint against movement and water ingress. It may be impossible to get at all of your joint from the inside due to cabinetry and liners and such. I believe your choice in glue is correct as you don't want movement at the joint. Don
