Last summer we spent two months sailing around lake superior on our O'day 30 and with the cold water and warm air, there was considerable condensation under the v-birth and the settees where we stored can goods and other stuff. While in the apostle islands I talked with a couple that had just returned from the bahamas and they told me to install vents to the areas with the moisture problem. I have made the vents and they are now ready to be installed in the boat but now am wondering if the warm air that will circulate in the space next to the cold hull will cause more condensation. Has anyone had a problem like this and what is the cure other then going south to warmer water.

Phil , good ventilation has never hurt on a boat.

I have vents for the space below my vee berth and force the ventilation with a solar powered fan. Always stays sweet and dry.
