Has anyone had experience with this product? It sounds pretty good. I have some black streaks down the side of my boat where the debris washes when it rains. It's quite unsightly and I want to make sure I clean it all off before I wax it. When it was in the water last summer I tried to clean it with several things that didn't get it off. http://www.nuhull.com/ They also have a product on this site called Champ - which is also for cleaning. Not sure what the difference is between the two.

couldn't find an MSDS to identify what it is which is usually a good indicator they don't want you to know. Unless you get a real perosn to tell you this stuff works, I'd suggest you try FSR which works great ont almost any fiberglass gelcoat stain

Sounds like...

Sounds like a well marketed "Ginsu" version of On & Off! I'm guessing it costs more than On & Off too! BTW On & Off is less than $15.00 for a Quart even at West Marine.. Similar products Star-Brite - EZ-ON / EZ-OFF Mary Kate - ON & OFF and ON & OFF Gel Davis - FSR (gel based) West Marine - Fiberglass Stain Remover (Gel)

I had a C and C some years ago

that had a black anodized toe rail. It always produced black streaks running down the topsides. I found that Starbrite "Black Streak Remover" worked well in getting rid of them. I later found that sanding, priming, and painting the the old toe rail with Rustoleum worked even betterr...

Use Fantastic

I've used Fantastic cleaner, the stuff your wife uses around the kitchen, it works like a charm removing those black streaks. However, it also removes the wax from the boat so you must re-wax the boat or section after using it.

scouring powder

Before using Poli Glo on my boat, I removed some black streaks with simple scouring powder. In a few instances, I also had to use some of that green pad material, which did remove the wax, but it didn't matter since I was refinishing the hull anyway. I'm increasingly coming to the conclusion that a lot of products marketed to boaters have very simple, waaaay cheaper alternatives.

The BEST hull cleaner / gelcoat cleaner Ive ever found ....

Is a product called Tuff-E-Nuff. A Florida made detergent that 'was' common in chandleries on the East Coast - Worst Marine used to carry it. Its a sodium silicate based detergent. It removes dead wax, air pollution specks, fungals such as 'artillery fungus' --- those zillions of teeny black specks that show up after a long wet period, removes blood by dissolving the cells, etc. I also use it to clean my sails. It will kill and DISSOLVE mildew on contact. However be pre-warned that it will deeply penetrate into porous gelcoat, and briefly turn the gel 'yellow' as it dissolves the old dead wax, etc. in the gel pores ... but will soon return to the original gel color. Stuff is expensive but you dont need much. It will also 'etch' bare teak so be careful if you dont intend to clean/etch your bare teak. Its highly caustic so use precautions.

Thanks

Thanks to all for your help. I'm so excited for spring that I'm anxious to scrub my boat!
