Hi All: As I was cleaning my hull this past weekend, it dawned on me that my hull was more "yellowed" than dull and chalky. It wasn't "the color yellow', but when viewed next to some vinyl lettering I removed, ther was a definite tint or haze of age that looked yellow - ish. (It's a 1996 model year). is this really part of the aging process ? I have ordered some Poli Glow, and hope this will restore the appearance of a brighter white. Any thoughts Jeff

Don't think it is going to get rid of the yellow

Jeff: I would save my money. I do not think that any of the Acrylics are going to do anything for the yellowing of the hull. I would try the Island Girl system first. Their product will remove the oxidation and recondition the gel coat. If you decide that IG does not do the job at least there is nothing to remove and the gel coat will be ready for your next process.

Don't buy IG Jeff.

I'll leave some IG on your boat this weekend along with the instructions. I have not had much luck with it but you can try it. I agree with Steve, see if you can get rid of the "yellow" before covering it with Poli-Glo(which I also have, but no time to apply).

Mello Yellow

I have several years experience with Poli Glow, Vertglas, Nu Glass,...ect. It's good stuff for restoring shine to old gelcoat but personally I wouldn't use it on a boat that new.. Anybody use this stuff on that boat before? I've seen Vertglas get yellow in 2-3 year and need to be stripped. Poli Glow is suppose to be better but I only have one season on that so far. Barry

I don't know if the PO used anything on the hull. My gut says no, based on the condition of other items on the boat. Ed, Steve, I'll try the island Girl first and see what happens. Thanks !! jeff

Follow directions!

Jeff: Follow the directions. http://shop.c-2.com/islandgirl2/book.html#FENDERSVENTS First you need to remove the chalk. This is done with one of the cleansers and synthetic wool. Once this is done you should begin to see some results. If you do NOT understand some of the instructions you may want to call Jim or lookup the website for additional information. Good Luck
