Have boat manufacturers (particularly the big three Hunter/Catalina/bene.) made any headway with blister resistant hulls yet?

How does the hull of a 2005 compare to 1995, 1985, 1975 in terms of blistering?, Also, which is worse for hull blistering salt or fresh water?

I can tell you my 1985 Hunter 31 never had a single blister. It has lived in fresh water for it's entire life with occasional trips to saltwater. The original hull was barrier coated (as suggested by Hunter).

I think that the new resins are better and a lot of these problems are behind us. That is not to say that boats no longer get blisters, but they are much better than they were.

Most all of the manufacturers either recommend you barrier coat the bottom or will sell you a barrier coat job as an option. So take what you will from this. Chuck
