I like to find out what the two fuse boxes control, which are mounted to starboard, just when coming down the companion way. Are there any wiring diagrams. I need to find out why the deck lights and also the navigation light on top of the mast do not work. It is a 1972 HR Rasmus 34.5 feet with single mast. Any help is very much appreciated take care Werner Gysi, wgysi@hotmail.com

Electrical problems

Dear Werner, these types of problem are commen for all boat owners. There is never any ready solution. you just have to check all the contacts all the way through, starting with the bulb in the light, and all the way back to the switch, the fuse and the fuse box. You will need patience but in the end you will find a bad contact, as I have, on several occasions. Think logicaly and dont be afraid to unskrew the fittings to check the electric contacts hidden behind them. Good luck, Nick.

Electrical problem

Hi Werner...I have been working on my electrical system and can tell you that a multimeter with a continuity checker (mine makes a beep when the circuit is complete) is a must. you can check the bulb in your masthead light by using the multimeter to send a current up through the bulb filament and back down...if the bulb is good, the meter beeps to tell you the circuit is continuous. Then you can verify the 12V supply and a good ground also with the meter. Buy a decent meter, it will pay for itself in no time by making your fault-finding MUCH less frustrating. Cheers. ffronk/friday harbor

Masthead lights, etc

Thanks for your reply, I do have the multimeter and beeb, but I wonder where the wires are routed to and which switch it is. The original pannel's lables are long gone. So I just pull one switch and nothing happens. Is there a schematic? Werner

Bad connection in wiring

Thanks Nick, I wonder if there is a schematic. Some of the switches are double pole and no lable anymore. I have no clue what they were intended to do. Take care Werner
