Help i cant read the manual (Bad photo copy)I need to find out the length of my main halyard. I know it will break this year so i must replace Thanks for you help
Jeff:If you take your 'I' measurement (basically the mast height) (in your case 26') and double it + 5' you will be close enough. This would assume that your main halyard winch is at the mast. This wil be a little too long but you can always trim it after you have it rigged.
Tie a messenger line (clothesline or whatever)to your halyard shackle. Pull the halyard to the top. Then 1) measure the messenger back to the end of your halyard + 2' or 2) measure the messenger to the deck and add the length to your primary winch.P.S. Then come back to us after you've bought your new halyard and we'll tell you how to thread it to replace the old one.
The mast on my 1988 h23 is 33', so be sure to measure as suggested. Additionally the sheave at the top of the mast may be broken and thus is chaffing the halyard. If you have chaffe on the halyard you may want to step the mast and check it out.
