Hello everyone. I wish to fit a folding propeller to Casper but, Casper is in Scotland & I am in Saudi! I am trying to give information to the propeller supplier.
I am wondering if any owner would know if the shaft diameter is 30mm with a 1:10 taper and 8mm key way? Would the shaft thread be M20? These are the questions I have been asked.

Happy sailing everyone. Bill

Only help here is that our American made P42 has a SS shaft that is 1-1/4" diameter. No info on taper, or key way. Sorry.

You are most welcome, Bill. Our boat remains in the water year around. Next year will be time to haul and redo the bottom paint. That would be the next time I could check those dimensions for you, but a bit of a wait.

If you know what type your existing propellor is, you could ask the manufacturer. Mine has a Michigan Wheel Marine propellor installed. You could also ask Hunter Marine when you give them your hull number. Both are quite helpfull.

Okay. Thank you. I will take the shaft out when home and take the second hand but new propeller to an engineering work shop and see if they can machine to fit. The shaft appears to be slightly larger than the propeller entry for it.

Thank you. Bill S

I also confirm the shaft is 1-1/4" in diameter. Hey where's your new "Nice boat" videos?

Hello Zaya. Thanks for confirming 1 1/4. I took Casper to Denmark Sweden & Germany last July. I put a film on YouTube. I am today just departed Arbroath in Scotland for a 5-6 weeks trip to Belgium and France, London then back to Scotland

i'm just a cautious old retired engineer. but there used to be 2.54 cm per one inch and 10 mm in one centimeter. so a 1 inch shaft diameter is 25.4 mm. and a 1.25 inch shaft diameter is 1.25 inches times 25.4 mm/inch , or 31. 7 mm. most tock thats on european boats (check VETUS) are in mm not inches. a 30 mm shaft is 1.18 inches. i'd get your boat manufacturer to confirm your official p-shaft diameter for your hull number , and the thread and taper , keyway length depth and key design. specify diameter and other specs are in mm not in inches for most manufacturers. you need this before you order a custom - fit folding prop.

Thank you Mitch. I have an engineer now who will ajust the shaft to the hub. Thanks for your info. Bill
