I think I will join the Catalina club. Thanks for the link.

Yeah that jib was labeled storm jib. There are 2 other jibs that are 130% I think.

The number on the main is the same as the boat number so must be the original. How can you tell it looks worn out? And what problems will I have with a worn out Main sail...other than it looking a little ragged.

Can you expand on what you meant by "your slot has been cut off below that (not normal)". Not following.

Thanks so much for your time and experience!!! I plan to put her in the water soon to just see how it goes. The rest of the boat actually looks really nice for its age.

Looks like others beat me to the sail answer. I dont often check the forum alot anymore.

As for the comment about your slot being cut off. In the picture your mast slot for the sail / boom should run the entire length of the mast from deck step to top of mast. sometimes if the bottom of the mast is damaged people will cut off a few inches to save the mast and keep using it. Most common damage is from dropping it while raising or lowering.

In your picture the sail stop seems to be at the end of the slot in your mast and it appears as though the groove has been notched out. This likely makes the mast lay flat for raising but is a bit abnormal as generally the boom would ride in that slot down toward the deck when the downhaul is pulled on. It's not something to stop you from sailing but something to just be aware of on your boat.

If you really want to know if the mast has been shortened measure it. On your model year the mast should be 25 feet. On the newer designs it is 24' 9". the cabin top is taller on the newer design boats by just a bit so the mast is shorter to still fit the One design perimeter.
