Bly and I are going to be at the show and would like to arrange a time and place to meet any of you who will be there, too. Just post here what day you'll bea the show and we'll see what we can work out.

I'll be there for the duration

And I definitely want to be counted into any gathering! How 'bout a breakfast gathering at Buddy's on Saturday or Sunday morning? They have a great buffet that opens at 9 am.(at least it does on Sunday...may be earlier on other days).

Lets us know where and when

And I'll shotgun an e-mail to all of HSA#1 and others. We probably won't make the gathering as I've got to get my sailing/cruising fix every weekend. Going stir crazy as TS Dennis the Menace ruined this last weekend. Will probably go the the show on Monday. See you at the show. Keep up the great work/service. Mark s/v Tequila

OK, here's the deal (kinda)

I've gopt to confirm this Bly, who keeps better track of such things, but I think we're there Fri-Sunday morning. Sounds to me like may be a 5 or 6pm Saturday time might be our best best. Anybody know a good spot near the show?

Buddys or McGruders

Buddy's is half a block up Main St. from the show...they'll take reservations for a large group for dinner (but if you're thinking only cocktails, I doubt it...and their bar area is not conducive to a group meeting). McGruders is on Dock Street right next to the show...they have an upstairs balcony in the bar that I THINK can be reserved for either drinks or dinner, but someone will have to check on that. Worst case, a few people get there early and nail down tables. Show closes at 7:00 pm, btw...5-6 may be a little early. Don't rule out a breakfast meeting Phil...if those driving don't get into Annapolis by 8:30 am at the latest, there are no parking places left within a mile of the show (do NOT park at a meter all day, figuring you'll just duck the parking ticket by leaving town...they don't just ticket--they tow!). So a breakfast gathering is a good excuse to get there early. For that, I'd recommend Buddy's...right next to the show, an excellent buffet for a reasonable price, and they open at either 8:30 or 9:00 am. I'll be at the show for the duration...in the Raritan booth. So let me know if I can help nail down a place.

Breakfast is a GREAT idea

Especially considering the parking. Now Phil for your other meals while you are in the Annapolis area, you truely haven't experienced Annapolis until you have eaten at Chick-n-Ruth's Diner. It is located further up main street (1 block) on the left hand side, just look for the grease pouring out into the street. C-n-R is an institution!! Pledge of allegience to the Flag every morning at 8:00 (9 on sundays) Best chipped beef on toast I've had, and I had lots when in the Navy. And if you can handle it go for their JAGUNDO banana split (8-10 scoops of ice cream and all the toppings for only $5.00) My wife and I split it, and the wait staff are amazed we finish it. C-n-R is open 24 hours a day, a true diner. We love the place and great prices too! Mark Whitson

Mark W: When did the navy start calling it "chipped beef on toast"? I thought that this was still called S.O.S.<haha>

Steve: C-n-R is a Family resturant

Steve you are exactly right, we called it SoS but Chick and Ruth's is a family deli/resturant ... you know the drill. The place is kind of like Cheers, everybody knows everyone, sometimes the waitress will abuse you (only if they know you) the current owner the son, walks around wearing a apron, and a french chapeau, doing magic tricks, best slight of hand I've seen up close and personal. Check them out if you go to the Annapolis boat show. Just good eats!!

Annapolis Boat Show meeting

Phil, since you opened up this idea, could you let those of us who aren't from anywhere near Annapolis, but who intend on attending the show know exactly where you want to meet on Saturday night, and what time?? Also, is there any kind of parking near the show? I'll be driving in from my brother's place in Hagerstown, MD, so would appreciate advice on parking -- I gather it becomes premium very early on the day. Thanks for your help, looking forward to it very much. Peter S/V Katy Kaye

Parking in Annapolis during the show

There is a municipal garage just a couple of blocks from the show, but it fills up shortly after 8 am. There's un-metered on-street parking up the residential streets east of Dock Street (the show) toward the Acadeny, but those spaces fill up early too. There's parking across Spa Creek on the Eastport side of Annapolis--both lots and street, but again...it fills up early within a mile of the show. Finally, there's parking in the Navy stadium parking lot, with shuttles to and from the show every 15-20 minutes. You should be able to find parking there all day. Let me stress: do NOT park at a meter, in a lot that says "no show parking," or any no parking zone--no matter what else you see any other car doing...figuring you're from out of state, so you'll just forget about paying the ticket. Annapolis tolerates the boat show exceptionally well...but they enforce their parking regulations very strictly. They don't just ticket--they tow!

Peggie's tows

Peggy: You seem to have first hand knowledges of the Annapolis towing policy. Thanks for the warning. Beth and I will be there on Saturday without Scott. He had a great time last year but we didn't get to see many boats (We boarded 3). As for HOW Get-together, Breakfast sounds great to me. However, I will follow the crowd (18th of 22). Mark PS. We will be giving tours of Proposal at Bert Jabin's for people who have not seen what a yacht on a sled looks like.
