I'm kind of surprised. At the Commodores reception, after the sail past, I found out that my family is the youngest at our yacht club that sails! I'm 43 my wife is 35 and Squeaky is 4. There is a dragon boat rowing bunch (paddling members but still full members) that are not counted in that. (They can use all the clubs boats (Lazers/14' and 16'er day sailors, etc.) just like anyone but just don't.)
That got me thinking. What is it like in other clubs? Are all the youngins like myself driving PWC and speed boats? Is there an average age? Ours looks to be about 65ish.
During the reception we were told about the up coming Open House. We are to incourage new people to sign up as members. Well, I don't know why more people my age don't. They all think its great that my family has a sail boat and say they would love to do "that".
Hmm. Am I a head of the curve on this sailing thing?
