How are all of you in Fla. making out after Fay's little visit. I sure hope no one sustained any damage, and are not having to swim to the store. Let us know how you are doing.

Pretty much a sneeze....a wet one.

A breezy day here in Orlando, a good bit of rain and a lot of gray sky. The only damage I've seen was a plastic for sale sign that blew off it's stake lying in the road. I wish they were all like this one :)

Fay hits SW Florida as a tropical storm

WE had big rain and wind but 65 was the top wind speed so we , in Naples, survived the storm very well. Lots of Rain in Marco Island and inland thoug. Lake Okechobee really needed it so that will be a good thing.

in Punta Gorda. Wind about 30 about 3 inches of rain. All of our boats in the area did fine. A very high tide was predicted since we had a full moon but it never materialized when the storm made a jog inland.

Hope everyone down stream does as well.

We're preparing for a lot of water. I had to leave town early this week, so I hauled my Hunter 26 out of the water before we knew what Fay would do. I plan on putting her back into the water early next week. BrianW

FAY Approaches Amelia island

Checked on the boat a little while ago it is well secured. My marina is kind of a hurricane hole so I am not worried

Have about 30-40 knot winds here at the moment, waiting for the torrential 5 to 8 inch rains they are predicting

The town had just celebrated the replenishment of the sand on the beaches from previous storms.

I went to the beach earlier today, best way to describe it is "Surf's Up!"

The tide was already at high at 9:00 AM with three more hours of incoming before the official scheduled high tide

I will keep you posted

Update

The storm has decided to move and it came ashore about 50 miles south of me. Winds are 25-30 mph gusting to 58 mph. The so called eye is just about to my location so the rain should let up a littl. We lost power in the marina for about an hour, but it is back on now.
Power is still out in town. While there I notices a sailboat washed up on shore.

So far all is well wit me and no problems

It's finally heading away

and towards the west. I am on the left hand and back side of it right now an we are getting lighters winds about 25mph and gusts to 30. Some rain now and then. Just north of us in Jacksonville they are on the right hand side of the storm and getting higher winds and more rain. They just issued a tornado watch about 15 Min ago.
No boats lost at the marina as of this post, however the only boats with any dammage are the people that didn't come out to add more lines. One boat a O/I 41 lost the dinghy from the deck. It was hanging on by a cable hooked to the furler. He also had a spring line attached to the boarding ladder and that got ripped off along with the fender board, He has some rubrail dammage. We mannaged to get the dinghy back on board and lashed down. I hope it fills with water so it won't blow overboard again. His spring lines are chafed and I don't know how much longer they will hold. The boats locked up so could not get anymore lines. We'll keep an eye on her. We don't want it to come loose and blow down on others.
People like this guy really piss me off, along with people that use clothes line to tie off their boat.
