Im looking at converting the icebox and had a few questions.

1. How much insulation is there?
2. what's around the outside of the icebox? Any air space that can be insulated? From what's in the dungeon 3 sides can be beefed up.

Any recommendations on units? Its looking like its going to costs about $1300 for the cold plate + condenser.

Thanks!

I fitted the Alder Barbour CU-100 and the VD-150 Evaporator Unit. It works great for me. I can get cold beer after 2-3 hours and ice cubes next day. That's probably due constant opening of the icebox top for cold beers. ;) my boat is berth and sail in waters just 1deg North of the Equator.
So for my case the icebox insulation is good enough.

That is some thing you need to check out as best you can and every boat is going to be different and some one recently took apart all around his ref to see what was used for insulation and was surprised to find very little insulation.
Maybe do a search here on ref and adding insulation to ref.
