Ok, so I installed a jabsco Par-max 1

about three years ago. I connected it for the sole purpose of showering in the cockpit. I have it connected to a switch so that after a swim we switch it on( it is a pressure regulated pump) and we can rinse off the lake nasties from our fresh water tank. It is only a 1.1 gallon pump and has worked great until today. I flipped the switch and nothing. I checked it out and all it was doing was getting very warm! So, I removed it and dissembled it to find that the armature that the pump cam is on had rusted to the bearing. I have never had a problem before. I have never really drained the pump, I just drained the tank. The pump motor has also taken a toll (looks like the moisture from the pump has damaged the pump housing) but I think it might work again. I have it freed up but it is raining and hard to get back to the boat right now. Warning, That motor was sitting there power on for about 2 minutes before I diagnosed it. It did get very warm to hot. Hope your commissioning goes well! r.w.

As hot as it got and as frozen as it was,

it is working great. I love not to spend money on something that worked! I was expecting a $100.00 repair report. r.w.landau

Good Job, r.w.

Me thinks you are a rarity- not afraid to get into a piece of equipment and attempt a repair. I think most boaters are not so inclined and would have simply replaced the pump without even looking to see if it was repairable. Now you still have a bit of money to shop the spring sales for stuff you really do need.....

Hey Rich ,

If you know someone casting off parts that don't work, send them here. I would love to find them a home!:) Take a chance before you throw them away! I do think that I screweed up on the drainage and protection of the pump. r.w.

Even if it can't be repaired...

I love to take things apart just to see how they work!!!

I really don't know what happened

Bietzpadlin was not covered, We have had two snow storms that melted slowly but no water got into the boat. The batteries lost .16 volts from 30 November until today. Somebody up there likes me I guess. ;D

is on the hard and I covered it so I can redo all the stantion base's and it did a great job of keeping the water out, but even though I put the pink antifreeze in my keel bilge today I discovered I had a block of ice in there. I guess what ever rain came down the mast got in there, next year I'm going to use the purple antifreeze instead.
